Piatnitzkyosaurus floresi, the family type species

Piatnitzkysauridae is an extinct family of megalosauroid theropods, closely related to megalosaurids . This name was given recently by Carreno et al., in 2012, more exactly. 

Piatnitzkysaurids lived in the Middle and Late Jurassic era, in what are now Utah and Argentina.

This family includes only three genus, all of them being medium-sized dinosaurs. Also, Piatnitzkysaurus floresi is the type species.


There are only three genus in this family, listed below.

  • Condorraptor currumili;
  • Marshosaurus bicentesimus;
  • Piatnitzkysaurus floresi.
