The Jurassic Park franchise is perhaps the most famous franchise related to dinosaurs of all time. With a number of movies, books, video games, toys, and other things under the Jurassic Park name, it's huge.

The Books[]

The thing that started it all were the books written by Michael Crichton. The first book he wrote was Jurassic Park. It was an instant hit. Soon enough, he had written a sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Both were big hits and continue to be favorites among readers.

Jurassic Park[]

Jurassic Park was the first installment in the movie lineup. Featuring actors such as Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum, it was an instant blockbuster. Jurassic Park follows the same basic plot as the book, with a few changes and additions. Overall, they are nearly the same.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park[]

The second movie in the Jurassic Park franchise was The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Like the first movie, it was also based off of a book(the second one). Jeff Goldblum returned for the second movie and, while not as popular as the first, The Lost World: Jurassic Park was a big hit.

Jurassic Park III[]

Jurassic Park III was the third(and for a while), final installment in the Jurassic Park movie lineup. Sam Neil returned and, like the first two movies, recieved a lot of attention. Some of that attention was good, but a lot was not. The most contraversial scene in the movie was also the most famous. Jurassic Park III replaced Tyrannosaurus rex with Spinosaurus as the main large theropod. While this would have been fine with many fans, the way it was done was not. Jurassic Park III featured a battle between the two titans. In the end, the Spinosaurus came out on top. Many fans found this result unlikely and were angered by it. This one scene has sparked a massive debate about a fight between Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus

Jurassic World[]

The much anticipated fourth movie in the Jurassic Park franchise is on it's way. Jurassic Park IV(recently renamed to Jurassic World), is set to be released June 12, 2015. Based on the logo, we can assume we'll see the return of Tyrannosaurus rex. However, not a lot is known, so we can only guess.

Video Games[]

The Jurassic Park franchise has also seen a number of video games released. Perhaps the two most famous are Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis and Jurassic Park: The Game. The popular app Jurassic Park Builder has also been made available.

Success[]

The Jurassic Park franchise is a true success story. It has revolutionized the way people look at dinosaurs. With three, soon to be four, movies, many video games, and a lot of other merchandise, Jurassic Park is surely one of the most successful movie franchises in the world.
